Pretty, in an unexpected place

Over the weekend Ann Taylor had an amazing sale, 50% off your entire purchase. It's been awhile since I had shopped at Ann Taylor but these beauties were to good to pass up and in my favorite color, navy!

I knew I had to have this pretty after seeing it on Classy Girls Wear Pearls. I didn't order the hat she's wearing but I have a great navy and natural straw one already.
I didn't order this dress and I'm sort of kicking myself. These tunic dresses are hard for me as I am sort of hour glass shaped and need the waist definition
Love these, a crisp Bermuda short is a summer staple for me.
These are a gamble. I really like how they look but the length is questionable.

So what do you think?

Ath-leisure?

I have to say, I'm tempted by the "ath-leisure trend. This outfit, from Athleta, seems comfortable and casual and somewhat suited to my weekend life. I have three kids, all of whom are super into sports. My weekends are spent at the lacrosse or baseball field, the basketball court, the fencing gym, sometimes more than one. I like to hike, run and do yoga so I am often squeezing that in and this seems like a good way to accommodate it. I just can't seem to make it work. I tend to be more structured in my clothes, capri pant or Bermuda shorts with a nice polo or tee and deck shoes is more my go to look. Anyone into this look and can share some trick? I feel like I am just wearing my pajamas when I dress like this and that everyone knows it. Maybe that's the point?

Now That's Elegant!

I love this picture. Full disclosure is that I found this image on Pinterest and don't know who took it but it's just amazing. I've always wanted to try riding side saddle but never had a chance. I was a lady rider in our hunt who used to ride to hounds side saddle but that was many years ago. This lovely rider looks like she would win the best turned out prize any day. I also love the kind yet alert look in her beautiful bay horse's eye. I had a wonderful plain bay gelding when I was younger who was an amazing jumper but he wasn't this elegant. I fancy I turn out neatly when I follow hounds but I don't look anywhere close to this elegant. Something to aspire to for next season!
