Ode to the Navy Blazer
Is there any article of clothing so essential as a navy blazer? It works so well in so many situtations, dressy or casual, male or female. The blazer comes in many different varieties but the most classsic are clearly Brooks Brothers or J Crew, although Lands End is nice. On Christmas Eve my husband and son were identical in their Brooks Brothers navy blazer, khaki trousers and plaid ties. So cute!

Longing for Spring and Lilly
It's almost spring! At least that's what I keep telling myself, despite the fact I am wearing a black cashmere turtleneck, gray wool skirt, black tights and boot and it's raining. I prefer to think of warmer weather, bright colors and outside fun! I love these images from the Lilly Pulitzer spring catalogue. That's what I like best about Lilly, it just makes me smile. Everything is better in pink!
I love this floral print wall paper. Adore the murfee pring and clutch too! I wish Lilly would make wallpaper although I don't think my husband would go for the pink floral paper.

I'm just a girl who can't say no.
It's my own fault. I admit it. It's likely one part working mom guilt and 2 parts desire to be involved in my kids life. Little League season began last weekend. I have 2 boys on 2 different teams who play on differnt fields. Did I mention I am the secretary on the Little League board? It's also Girl Scout Cookie time and I'm leading this months brownie meeting! Sometimes I admit I do think it would be easier if all my kids were the same gender. Adding to the pile is that it is time for our elementary schools spring fundraiser which is a walk-a-thon and a carnival. Guess who is the carnival chair? Yep, that's right. On top of that goes the school's fall fund raiser for which I am the volunteer coordinator (that's not till September). I've been approached to be on a committee that is putting on a horse show for a non-profit group. It's very prestigious and I've always wanted to be asked to be on this committee yet I am wondering if i am out of my mind to consider it.

Take me out to the ball park!
This Saturday was the opening day for out little league. Baseball is one of my favorite parts of spring. Both my boys are playing this year and I am board secretary so we spend a lot of time at the ball park. We had a great day which was kind of suprising as it had been raining earlier in the week but everything we went well and my oldest son, AGB and his team won their first game. OPB, my younger son, was supposed to play Sunday but that did rain out. Batter up! It's time to play ball!
C, N and AGB really to have at it!

I just love it. I was a member of the Junior League in the Palo Alto/Mid Peninsula Chapter here in Norther California for more than 10 years and am still a sustainer. It was a wonderful time and I learned so much and made such great friends.
I do love the print on this murfee. I don't have one yet and am serriously thinking that this one will be mine! What do you think?

Rainy Day Pick Me Up

It's raining here again in Northern California for what seems like the millionth time this year. I know, I know, compared to the folks on the East Coast or in the Pacific Northwest this isn't anything to complain about. Besides, we need the rain. Still, I'm tired of it and ready for spring. So I reached into the back of my bathroom cupboard and brought out Beach! I love Bobbi Brown's Beach fragrence. The website describes it as " Designed with a lightly intoxicating blend of sand jasmine, sea spray, and mandarin". To me it seems like summer. One whiff and I am sitting on the sand at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk eating a corndog and frozen lemonade. It smells like the ocean and copertone suntan oil to me. I rarely wear it during the week or in the winter. It's a summertime, weekend, vacation kind of fragence to me. Still, on this wet day in early March, it's a promise of the season to come!

One of my Favorite Places
One of my favorite places is Victoria, British Columbia. Hubby and I went there on our honeymoon, again on our 1oth anniversary and again at 15. It's a beautiful place. You take a plane to Vancouver and then a ferry to Victoria. We rented a car once and once just took local buses and cabs. Because it is a sea level city it has a climate similar to the one we have here in San Francisco. It's also an easy trip for those of us here in the west but well worth it if you live elsewhere too!
Buchart Gardens is the highlight of the trip everytime for me. I insist we got back each time and always find something new to marval at. It's also a great place to have a romantic picnic!

The crown of the city is the Emperess Hotel. We love to stay here. The whole place has a sense of charm and makes you feel like you have steped into a different place in time. Also, the tea served here is not to be missed. They have their own special blend which hubby gifts me with on other anniveraries! We have mostly been here in the summer months as our anniversary is in August but it is beautiful in fall as well. Really, it is a wonderful place to visit!
